Bringing objective strength testing into a world-leading environment
Recognised globally as a leading hub for sport and performance, Loughborough University continues to set the standard for how research, rehabilitation and elite sport come together.
Kikko Health has recently been on-site to support the recent installation of a HUMAC NORM Isokinetic Dynamometer, by delivering hands-on training to ensure the system is embedded effectively within practice.

Why HUMAC NORM?
Isokinetic dynamometry is widely used across elite sport, clinical rehabilitation and academic research to support evidence-based assessment and decision-making.
The HUMAC NORM system provides:
- Four resistance modes: isokinetic, isometric, isotonic and passive
- 22 isolated joint movement patterns
- Objective, repeatable data for strength testing and rehabilitation benchmarking
- Insight to support return-to-play decisions
This combination allows practitioners to move beyond subjective assessment, using data to better understand deficits, monitor progress and guide progression.

Training led by John Hartley
A key focus of the visit was practical training, led by John Hartley.
Training sessions were designed to ensure practitioners could:
- Apply appropriate testing protocols
- Interpret outputs with confidence
- Integrate findings into rehabilitation pathways
- Use data to inform return-to-play decisions
This hands-on approach was supported by Kikko Health’s clinical training and education offering, ensuring teams can confidently apply the technology within real-world settings.
Working alongside Rob Potash and the Kikko Health team, the sessions combined technical understanding with practical application to bridge the gap between system capability and day-to-day use.

From installation to application
Installing advanced rehabilitation technology is only one part of the process. Ensuring it is used effectively within clinical and performance environments is where the Kikko Health team have been able to create long-term value.
At Loughborough University, the focus is on integrating objective strength testing into existing workflows by supporting:
- More accurate assessment of strength and asymmetry
- Ongoing monitoring of rehabilitation progress
- Data-led return-to-play decisions
- Clear communication across multidisciplinary teams

A shared focus on performance and evidence
Kikko Health is proud to be the exclusive UK and Ireland partner for CSMi’s HUMAC NORM, supporting organisations with both access to technology and the training required to use it effectively.
Collaborations like this highlight the importance of combining world-class environments, practitioner expertise and objective data to drive better outcomes.
Looking ahead
As the role of objective assessment continues to grow, partnerships between universities, clinicians and technology providers will play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of rehabilitation and performance.
